Meet DR. JAY OLTJEN

I take a tremendous amount of pride in what I do because I believe that orthodontics has a significant and lasting impact on people's lives. A great smile builds confidence and a good bite is important to your overall health. My patients are wonderful and make my job fun, which is very important to me. They also understand the importance of orthodontic treatment and the value they are receiving in a beautiful, healthy smile.

Building a Foundation

My education gave me a strong base of knowledge that I am able to pass on to my patients. I attended Kansas State University for my undergraduate degree before continuing on to the University of Texas in San Antonio where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I received my specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters degree from the University of Oklahoma.

I spend an extraordinary amount of time in continuing education because the more knowledgeable and current about what orthodontic research is saying, the better clinician it makes me. I am the orthodontic advisor to the Great Plains Study Club, a chapter of the Seattle Study Club, a national and prestigious study club. I also participate in new product research and development for 3M, a company that makes the very best products available to orthodontists. I am an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Outside the Office

I was raised on a farm near Hiawatha, a small Kansas town. I currently reside in the Leawood area with my wife, Rita, our three children, William, Elizabeth, and Jane, and our dog, Quinn. When I'm not in the office I enjoy playing golf, sport fishing, and traveling.
